The Michigan Hospitality & Tourism Alliance is a collaborative of hospitality and tourism-related statewide and select regional organizations created to promote hospitality, travel and tourism in Michigan through a unified voice. The Alliance aspires to educate stakeholders, elected officials and industry leaders of the importance of the hospitality and tourism industry to Michigan’s overall economy and to advocate for appropriate funding streams to ensure its future success.
Michigan Tourism Forever Agenda
The MHTA is unified around a position that the future success of travel and tourism in Michigan requires a dedicated and permanent funding stream to maximize Michigan's most powerful economic development tool and to ensure an appropriate return on our collective investment.
It is noteworthy that travel and tourism generate $3.6 billion in state and local taxes every year but have no guaranteed state investment to ensure Michigan’s future success.
A multitude of dedicated funding opportunities to finance the MI Tourism Forever Agenda are available to policy makers. For instance, the MI Tourism Forever Agenda could be fully funded by dedicating just 0.7% of existing sales tax revenue or by incorporating tourism into any future sales tax expansion proposals.
